Full mechanical design and fit-out
DEWCO were appointed by main contractor Caledonian for the full mechanical design and installation of this new Academy school; built from 141 modules and catering for 750 pupils.
The Farnborough Academy is a co-educational secondary school located in the Clifton area of Nottingham in the English county of Nottinghamshire.
The project comprised of a complete off-site manufacture and onsite construction and fit-out package, comprising a full height assembly hall (portal frame), science labs, music rooms, dining hall and commercial kitchen plus all aboveground elements, including CHP, underfloor heating, and all interior fit-outs.
The building achieved outstanding air permeability results and highly energy efficient – with an air tightness level of 4.11 m3/m2 per hour for a 7,453m2 building with large open spaces and assembly hall.
This project was awarded the ‘Education Building of the Year’ by Builder and
Engineering magazine, a publication primarily focused on the traditional build market.
